We finish the season with a luscious programme of music by Beethoven, Shostakovich, Nadia Boulanger and Grieg. Presented and performed by an inspiring duo:

Nicola Tait Baxter’s passion for the cello led her to study at the Royal Academy of Music with Lionel Handy, where she won numerous prizes for solo and chamber music, graduating with first-class honours. She later gained scholarships to study in Germany with Johannes Goritzki and in London with legendary cellist William Pleeth. At the age of 24, she gave her first solo broadcast for Radio 3 and she was appointed cellist of the Fitzwilliam Quartet from 2001. Very much in demand as a soloist these days, Nicola has a repertoire including most of the major cello concertos, and has appeared as a soloist throughout the UK, in Switzerland and in the USA . She has performed all 6 Solo Suites by JS Bach in festivals in Scotland, England and Germany, her performances being described as “lively interpretations” and “intoxicating.” Nicola performs regularly with her duo partner, acclaimed pianist Mina Miletic, drawing comments such as “truly impressive” and ”mesmerising.” More details are given on her website NTBCello.com Prize-winner of many awards, Mina Miletic established her career regularly appearing in recital, as a chamber musician and concerto soloist in concert halls across Europe, Asia and the USA. She completed a PhD on ‘Interpretation of Impressionistic Piano Music’ and is regularly engaged as an adjudicator for festivals and competitions.
